We exist to create places where life flourishes and projects that contribute to a living future for all.

Hi, we’re Bio Studio.

We collaborate to design a built environment where people and nature thrive together. We offer regenerative design leadership and urban ecology consulting for architects, planners, owners and cities.

Bio Studio is a Woman-Owned California Certified Small Business and DBE located in the San Francisco Bay Area.

In the studio now

  • California High Speed Rail Central Valley Stations

Design of four transit stations for California High Speed Rail Authority with associated landscape, infrastructure and transit-oriented development in Merced, Fresno, Kings-Tulare and Bakersfield, California.

  • Mt. Sutro Woodland Canyon Creek Restoration

Nature-based solutions applied to Sutro Stewards’ Woodland Canyon Creek to mitigate and adapt to climate change, restore an accessible community asset, and honor the Ramaytush Ohlone - stewards of this land for generations.

  • Maui Pāʻia Youth and Cultural Center

Sustainable revitalization of a cherished Maui park and youth center for Pa’ia Youth and Cultural Center targetting climate-positive design and 100% renewable energy. The project includes a 6,500 sf new build, plus restoration of the landscape that features dunes and sacred, native, traditional plants.

Why Bio?

Bio means life. We are in business to help life thrive by design. The “three bios” of regenerative design sum up our focus areas neatly. Bio also refers to a personal story. We want to learn the stories of our clients and collaborators and the land and communities they come from. Ultimately, we want to be part of telling an inspiring new story of what it means to live well together on the earth.
